Review of product: Great guide. Easy to follow and nice pictures. After the install it has been a lot stiffer but heavy vibrations. I am expecting it to go down after the break in period, but even with the vibration, it is much better than the stock mount.

Review of product: I would like to provide a few updates to my review after spending some time with this mount. First, I wish to reiterate what I said about the stock lower mount being the culprit for the continued ‘bang’. As my driving style adjusted to take advantage of the capacities of this new TTR mount, the 1-2 bang grew worse than it was originally. This is due to the motion that used to be transferred to both the upper and lower engine mount now being sent almost exclusively to the stock lower mount, causing a more localized yet more pronounced amount of engine movement which in turn amplifies the bang. To fix this, I purchased the Cobb lower engine mount. Having two solid mounting points means that I can now do my 1-2 upshifts as hard as I want and hear no bang. The other thing I want to mention is that while the vibrations after installing the TTR Upper mount improved over the first 300 miles, they didn’t seem to get much better after that. After installing the Cobb lower mount, they significantly improved. Again, credit the two solid mounting points for the engine. The great engine sound remains unchanged with the Cobb lower mount in place. The TTR Upper Engine mount plays a essential role in reducing unwanted engine motion; people simply need to know that there are a few side effects that some might have to live with if they don’t “get the whole package” and additionally purchase an upgraded lower mount. The TTR Upper engine mount is a solid buy all on its own that when combined with an upgraded lower mount should be on the ‘must have’ list of every MK3 Focus enthusiast.

Review of product: The instructions were straightforward and simple so I decided to try and install this upgraded mount myself. It took a while, but that was only because this was my first self-done mod and I wanted to get it right the first time. When I pulled out the old mount, I found that I could move it with one hand. The thing was seriously soft. On the vibrations: When I first started up the car, I could definitely feel extra vibrations, but they weren’t as bad as I thought they’d be. After putting 300 miles on this mount to break it in, I’d say that the vibrations are getting better. The steering wheel vibrates a bit, the dash vibrates a lot from 1100-1800 RPM, but I personally kind of enjoy it. The vibrations should continue to recede for the next 700 miles or so. The engine is as quite as stock at 700 RPM idle. On the sound: This mount makes a huge sound difference. Except for idle, the engine sounds more like a small-block V8 than a 2.0 liter four. In my mind, it’s like having a cat back exhaust with the additional sound coming from the engine compartment instead of out back. It’s great. On the looks: I got mine polished with a red bushing. It looks great in my black Focus’ engine bay; the polished finish and red bushing stand out in the sea of black and grey without looking too out of place. I had one guy swear when he saw the thing. On the performance improvement: Performance wise, this does four main things for the car. First, it helps with clutch engagement. Before I got this mount, I thought that my clutch was weak in clamping force; it just seemed to take forever to fully grab on when I let the clutch out. With this stiffer mount I realized that the problem was that the clutch would start to engage and then the engine would twist on the soft mounts, significantly lengthening the time of perceived clutch engagement. This stiff one significantly sharpens the clutch’s reflexes. Secondly, more torque gets put to the ground because it isn’t being used to wind up the stock mount. I can tell because my front tires break loose easier. Third, it significantly reduces wheel hop. When I break my front tires loose, they now break much more cleanly, not nearly as choppy as before. As a side benefit, this reduces traction control intervention. The traction control light used to flash all the time when I would break the tires loose; hardly at all now. The final thing that this mount helps is with "the bang.” I’ve got the engine to bang once with this new mount, but it was much shorter than before. The culprit is the stock lower engine mount which is just as overly soft as the stock upper mount. I plan on replacing it with a Cobb unit soon. All in all, this mount is amazing. It does a boatload of good things to the car improving sound, control, power and shifting all at once. It is well worth the $200 price. Anyone with a 2012-2014 Ford Focus should get one.
